In choosing a Realtor. there are many variables to consider when selling or buying a home. Hiring the right Realtor will probably be the single most important decision in the process! Since it's the biggest asset you're likely to own, you want to ensure your Realtors have the experience and knowledge to handle such an important duty. Many people opt to represent themselves, but in short sightedness, often lose precious time and money. Lets face it, your highly unlikely to perform surgery on yourself or represent yourself in a court of law . . . you know you need a professional who specialises in their field. Having said that though, you more than likely will also take care to ensure your doctor or lawyer will perform without error . . . there may not be a second chance. The same should hold true in your choice of Realtor. Even an offer of reduced fees should not swing you, knowing a good Realtor will more than compensate you in the end results. Consider the following points, then interview Realtors and ask them what they do for their fee. You may be surprised by the vast difference in the services offered and steps taken in selling or buying a home.
WHAT YOU SHOULD LOOK FOR:
-An agent with an excellant knowledge of the local housing market, including schools, transportation, shopping malls, and other services and amenities.
-Someone with an exceptional track record of listed and sold properties.
-An agent who has adequate research and marketing resources to buy and/or sell your home.
-Someone who can advise you through all of the legal and financial aspects of the home buying/selling process.
-An experienced negotiator who gets you the best possible price.
Before you sign on any dotted lines, make sure you and your agent have a clear understanding of what each other's expectations are!
Don't forget, this is YOUR home that your selling or buying and a lot is at stake. Do yourself a favor and take some time to consider who you will want representing you with your largest asset.
